Be Content With Your Wages.

And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. Luke 3:14

One of the first things that John the Baptist warned the people, was to be content with their wages.

Today's preaching has been anything but this message. Instead, the prosperity preachers have caused an unrest in the people concerning their wages. Many church-goers now believe that they should be gaining more, or they are not right with God.

They have been led to believe that gain is Godliness.

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1 Timothy 6:5

This "gain is godliness" message must come to a stop, or the true christians will have to leave this message, before Jesus is to return. When Jesus comes, His church will be made ready, by the same message John the Baptist preached.

Part of that message is to be CONTENT with your wages, and the things that you own.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5

To be CONTENT with godliness is what the Lord desires for His church.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1 Timothy 6:6

Jesus doesn't want us to strive for worldy riches, but spiritual riches!

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Revelation 3:17-18

Our treasures are to be laid up in heaven, NOT IN THIS WORLD!

Mathew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Mathew 6:20  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Mathew 6:21  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

We are to be content with our earthly wages!!!
